I have been elected your next Lt Governor Marketing for District 55 beginning July 1, 2007. I believe in the mission, purpose and goals of the position:
• Making the benefits of Toastmasters membership available to greater numbers of people
• Planning, developing, implementing and directing short & long-term District marketing objectives
• Developing and directing programs for Club rescue efforts; Club membership promotion and membership retention; and new Club development and
• Promoting high standards of service to the member and to the Club.
There are two main goals of the LGM – finding and keeping members AND finding and keeping new clubs. When it comes to finding and keeping members, retaining membership will be my number one priority. I believe that if our current members are happy, they are the best marketing program that we can have. Since I myself am a “happy camper” with my clubs, I continually talk about Toastmasters to anyone and everyone I come in contact with. If we can spread the happiness factor to all of our current members, then they in turn will keep spreading the word about Toastmasters to all of their contacts, and so forth!
I also believe that regular communication from District leadership is essential. As LGM, I will work with other District leaders to provide tips, guidance, encouragement and news that a Toastmaster needs. I have lots of ideas to share with the club officers to make meetings fun and interesting. A well informed and educated member makes a happy member.
I will use a fun variety of methods to reach out to Toastmasters throughout the District and encourage our current members to spread the word of Toastmasters. You never know when a contact might turn into a new member or even a new club!
Finding and keeping new clubs is sometimes a struggle… but it doesn’t have to be. There are plenty of opportunities to create new club leads throughout the District. The challenge is turning those leads into strong and effective clubs filled with new Toastmasters. The most important thing we can do is show a group of potential Toastmasters the outstanding benefits of the Toastmaster program. Effective club-building requires dynamic teams willing to take the program throughout the District.
I will work to recruit and retain the best club-building teams to ensure District success and to provide opportunities for these Toastmasters to share what they love about the program… THE MEMBERS GROW AND OUR CLUBS GROW!

ENDORSEMENTS
"If you want a job done right, ask a busy person to do it. That's Margaret. Toastmasters is only one of Margaret's many activities. Margaret contributes her time and talents to the Austin Rodeo, to Lakeway Associates of Seton, and to Travis County 4-H. Margaret Cathey is to organization as Ms. Manners is to etiquette. Margaret may have joined Toastmasters to improve her communication skills but we have all benefited from the moment she entered the leadership track."
